New York City is considered "the" city of the United States. The Empire State Building

Statue of Liberty
Without a doubt, the most recognizable sight in New York City is the Statue of Liberty. A gift from the French, it stands more than 300 feet tall and is the symbol of liberty and freedom; for many immigrants, it was the first sight they would lay eyes upon when traveling to America. Central Park

Times Square
Named for the New York Times originally, it is quite possible the most-recognizable area within the country. The center of many famous photos, gatherings and celebrations, it is a must-see. Each year, over a million people gather there to celebrate on New Year's Eve; the Nasdaq sign at Times Square is 37 feet high, which makes it the largest LED sign in the world. Bring your camera!
